Oh, I think you've got a nice voice! Not whiny.

Thank you! I do, however, have fucked-up sinuses, which really need to be operated on in what is apparently an incredibly painful operation, so people I don't know are always asking me - quite rudely, I think - if I have a horrible cold.

At some point you really do have to come to terms with the fact that it is your accent that us foreigners find sexy. Objectifying, maybe, but truuuueeee.

Oh, that lilting brogue! It's so musical!

(Ahahahahahaha. Sorry.)

But seriously, I think you have a great voice - not nasal or whining at all.

Argh. It now occurs to me that it may have been daegaer, not you, who was saying how much it pisses her off to have Irish accents described as 'lilting', 'brogues' and 'musical', and if that's the case, my previous comment will come across as both incomprehensible and snarky. I'm sorry!

(Note to self - never try to make jokes unless you are 100% sure that the person in question is aware of the context, or you will feel like a tool.)

Heh, I thought it was funny anyway, because I too hate the words "brogue" and "lilting" to describe Irish accents! So please don't feel like a tool.

I love these posts, as I find it endlessly fascinating to hear what everyone sounds like, especially how different everyone's accents are, even between the Americans on my friends list! It's also funny that I had dragged the ogg file over to WinAmp and dumped it randomly in a playlist, and so you were followed by "Me Against the Music"!

I am very jealous of your Beyonce experience! And my friends and I spent at least an hour last night watching a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made for TV movie before we went out, so I am in complete understanding of the TV thing.

Hee, and I kind of was in real life, too, because I have to review the Britney album for the Irish Times (I seem to be turning into their official pop correspondent or something), and listened to it just after making that call!

Beyonce was absolutely fabulous - really charming and with amazing stage presence. She's also the coolest dancer ever, and in a way which is totally unlike the usual choreographed-by-a-robot style favoured by so many pop princesses. She did the Pony! She's a total fox.

Yikes! You sound like your sisters and not like you at all! I would have thought that was Buster J, not the Anna I love!

Which number did you use, anyway?
Nov. 16th, 2003 01:06 pm (UTC)
The Bethesda one, because that's where my parents used to live! It could have been any of them, really.

And, I think it sounds like me, not Jenny! Because, well, it is me, after all. Although all us Careys sound pretty identical on the phone...

You really do! Oh, and one other thing - what's the international code to Ireland from America? I know it's not 00353, like everywhere else. Gratuitous post, here I come!
Nov. 16th, 2003 01:18 pm (UTC)
Is that for regisitering your number? Just put in 00353, they can't identify it so you just have to key it in after you've called.
