that's what I call a happy ending

Yes! Yes yes yes yes yes! That was fucking magnificent. Everything about it. It was just beautiful. I got a bit teary when Tim, that truly decent boy, offered to go for a drink with the pathetic Brent. I started bawling when 'Back for Good' by Take That came on when Dawn was leaving, and I cried even more when she opened her parcel. And when we saw her return in the background, my sister and I literally started shrieking with joy. Even the vile Brent's happy ending made us smile.

It was perfect television. A comedy that makes you cry properly is a beautiful thing.

Ooh! Ooh! I just noticed something else that I think is really well done. You know how one of Brent's signature pieces of body language is that he's always glancing around, especially at the camera? Whatever is going on, whoever he's talking to, it's clear that the camera is really the most important thing around to him. But as Brent and Carol go through their date, he spends less and less time looking around. By the time Brent and Carol walk to the car, he's totally focused on her, and when she drives off, when Brent would normally mug for the camera, he only looks over once or twice, instead visually hunting for her car, not the camera.
