help me!

Here's another iBook question: I have a lot of music in iTunes, but haven't burned CDs until today. And when I did, on two CD-RWs, the CDs wouldn't play on my stereo, although they played on my iBook and on P's sister's PC laptop. I founda website which said that stuff burned from iTunes to CD-RWs may not be readable on home CD players. Is this normal?

Yup - it can be a problem (also, this may sound like a really stupid question, but did you burn them it as an audio CD's instead of as an MP3 CD?). CD-R's should work fine however and should be cheaper.

This is a big problem in DVD burning land too, with it's two competing formats. DVD-R seems to have the lead in compability with regular DVD players.

I did burn them as audio CDs - although I nearly forgot to confirm that that's what I wanted to do! I'll try it with CD-R once I've bought some.

CD-R is really the only way to go when burning music. I burn a lot of mix CDs on my G4 with iTunes and have found that the CD-RWs nearly never work properly in regular players. I made a lot of coasters the first few weeks until I figured that out.

Also, there are just some CD players that just aren't up to it with new technology.

It is normal. Unfortunately there are a lot of CD players (and DVD players) in home stereo systems that won't play CDR or CDRW discs. Very irritating, but nothing much can be done about it :(

CD question
Commercial CDs are "replicated" meaning that they are physically formed with the information in them. When we copy we "duplicate" or burn the information onto a blank CD that has already been physically formed. Not all DVD/CD/MP3 players will recognize what you've burned, especially in they are more than a few years old.
