Awwwwwww. Sniff.

Anyone who doesn't feel just a little bit teary at this photo has a heart of stone. Stone, I tell you!

And when I remember that there are horrible conservative Christians out there - like George W Bush and his anti-gay-marriage pals - who think that those women are somehow evil or sinful, I know that I and they don't believe in the same God.

They have been together for FIFTY YEARS. Oh it's so beautiful I'm crying all over again.

I should know by now never to follow any of your links; first it was that 'I love horses' thing (which I still have in my head!), and now I'm all weepy...

I am all teary now. Damn Dubya and his Flimm Flamm god.

I am also teary, and scornfully amused that Bush thinks that his version of love, ie drinking and snorting coke behind Laura's back before holding her up as a model of virtuous womanhood to all America for putting up with it, is in any way more moral.

Sorry I didn't text last night! Hope the gig went well.

Re:
It did! I am a bit hungover today. Do you want to come along to the Hoot Night tonight? It's at the Lower deck at about eight, and I am singing with the Jimmy Cake!

Re:
I am so brutally hungover I've not been able to move all day... so maybe not. On the other hand, the L.D. isn't too far. I'll text you nearer the time and see how alive I feel!

Re:
That sounds fun! I wanna go see!
Damn newspaper can go hang.
(actually, I'm going to stay and do it. even band-swapping Jimmy Cake action isn't a good enough reason to feck it up!)

Re:
Well, I've noticed that conservative Christians tend to ignore the "go and sin no more" and "judge not lest that ye be judged" parts of the New testament. In fact, they pretty much ignore all of the New Testament apart from the bit about Jesus supposedly being the only way to God. All the good stuff - about forgiving, and being kind, and not judging people - seems to be conveniently ignored. I really don't know why they consider themselves Christians at all, as they seem to ignore the actualy Christ part of the equation.

Just want to say
that most organized religions of the Abrahamic Tree have gotten so fast away from the teachings of their prophets that they are just lost.

Oh that's so lovely! I'm all weepy and teary and trembly now. I can't believe that anyone could watch that, just two people celebrating a lifetime of love together, and denounce it as evil!

Re:
Well, of course they could, if they were fucked up enough in their own minds. F'rinstance, some of the charmers who sent those nasty emails to the Cho blog might think that.

It's a pretty sick world where a wife-beating, womanizing jerk can be legally married, but two women who have quietly loved each other for decades cannot. "Family values," my arse.

Re:
Sick world indeed!
But those two women, wasn't that just so lovely? They looked so happy. To finally have your love validated and given the respect it deserves, that's a great thing!

Love your icon, btw! Ron Perlman rocks!

I've noted Dubya banging on about protecting the sacrament of marriage - despite being a Protestant of some stripe. Does he know so little about his own form of religion that he doesn't know he should theoretically recognise only two sacraments, baptism and the eucharist?

Those two women are lovely, and are very obviously more suited for marriage than the hatemongers.

How cool is that!

What's less cool is that according to the accompanying article, these women and the other same-sex couples who got married after them will inevitably face legal challenges. I admire and honour their bravery, their willingness to blaze a trail.
