<a href"http://edition.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/02/24/elec04.prez.bush.marriage/index.html">I hate George Bush for many reasons, and this is just one of them</a>.

So the institution of marriage is damaged by something as beautiful as <a href="http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object.cgi?object=/chronicle/pictures/2004/02/13/ba_gaywed_01_lm.jpg&paper=chronicle&file=GAYMARRIAGE.TMP&directory=/c/a/2004/02/12&type=universal">this</a>? Then I don't think it's a worthwhile insitution. And Bush can keep his judgemental, fundie beliefs out of his country's government. You know, George, Jesus never said anything about homosexuality or indeed abortion, but he had a lot to say about not judging others and not grabbing after money and power, so maybe you should go over the meaning of Christianity again before you start blathering about its "sacraments".

He better make an amendment to define man and woman, while he's at it. It's not always that damn simple. Or maybe he should just leave it the hell alone. No, that would be the sensible thing to do. Never mind.

Just imagine how those of us with the misfortune of being from the States feel about all of this. :(

Seriously, if by some devious method (this is Bush we're talking about) he manages to get this through, I'm moving to the UK or Canada.

...and another bravo to stellanova, and an echo of the previous comments about our fine President. I can't wait to be able to vote in November.

Bravo! Well said.

I have a theory that some day, people will look back on the brouhaha over gay marriage in much the same way we look back on the kerfuffle over interracial marriage now. At least, I hope I'm right.

I love you so much.

My friend and I are sitting in the school comp lab before class, checking LJ, and this was enough for me to read out loud to her, which was enough for her to check it out, which was enough for people around us to agree wholeheartedly.

DAMN but he's a fuckhead, ain't he?

Hey, you're pretty lovable yourself!

And yes, he really is a fuckhead, and many other unpleasant things. I don't understand where "Christians" like him get their beliefs from. Their version of religion seems to be all about hating other people and feeling smug about themselves.

About all I've got right now is "gah, erk, ggnnnnnrggghh!" So thanks for saying it for me.

Yes, marriage is a sacred institution. It between a man, and a woman, and ... their reality show television host.
Feb. 24th, 2004 11:32 am (UTC)
EXACTLY. To me, something like that is more of an abomination, and more of a violation of the sanctity of marriage, than same-sex unions could ever be.

I think that a friend of mine came up with the best term for Bush I've heard this week, "malevolent little chimp".
After this last weekend I've decided to support whatever groups are trying to get Bush out of power, and if (god forbid) he wins moving to Canada might become a viable choice.

Hi. You don't know me, but I'm the friend fox1013 mentioned.

Anyway, I just wanted to comment to say, "Word." That was very nicely written. Thanks.

You're very welcome.

Actually, even thought I'm a very lapsed Catholic, I still get very annoyed at conservative Christians for turning what's essentially a very, very liberal religion into something based on hating just about everyone and thinking that sex is worse than war.
Feb. 25th, 2004 03:20 am (UTC)
Sex is worse than war. War is an expression of righteous wrath. Sex is an expression of disgusting and lowly animal desires, and can be cured by going to war. Or cleaning something vigorously, if you are a woman.

I hope that was helpful. ;-)
