too much of a good thing?

Just the other day, I was enthusing here about all the good (or so bad they're good) books that had conveniently arrived on my doorstep. But today another batch arrived, and I'm starting to feel a little...overwhelmed. I have the vintage school stories, I have Patricia, I have Jennifer Crusie's entire oeuvre, I have the new Laurie Graham, I have, I have, I have....

I'm totally overwhelmed with entertainment! I don't know where to start! And the problem is, I kind of want to start all of them, especially Patricia. The thing is, I have a lot of books to read for work, and while some of those happen to be ones I want to read for pleasure, I want to get them over with before I launch into the pure pleasure ones. Also, while I have always read several things at once, reading literally six books at once is too much even for me.

So picture me, literally surrounded by a wall of books which may collapse at any minute and bury me in a heap of chicklit and school stories, and pray...for....mojo....

I am so far from feeling sorry for you that I would need one of your excellent maps* to find my way to sorry.

But you could adopt my work/ pleasure reading technique and segregate books by location? I have been known to keep for-pleasure books in the bedroom, and academic papers or boring consultation documents in the living room. And, of course, then spend a week never, ever going into the living room.

*I have pinned up your bus map in the kitchen as a memento.

I have to second cangetmad on the whole not feeling sorry for you bit. But you're wonderful, even when I am all Kermity-coloured.

Care to trade lives with me a bit? I'll read all of your 'work' books, and you can have the time to read all of your pleasure books.
