Fellow Archers fans - have any of you been listening to its BBC Asian Network cousin, Silver Street? I decided to check it out yesterday, and having listened to the last two week's worth, I think I'll keep listening. Well, you know I'm constantly seeking things that will distract me from meeting my work deadlines. And also, it was pretty good, in its soapy way. Because it's aimed at an audience who may be unfamiliar with radio soaps, it's easier to get into than The Archers - they mention each other's names more often, so you always know who's talking. The characters were likeable - I particularly liked the rather sweet (and potentially slashy, if I were a fic writer) relationship between best friends Kuljit and Sway. I liked the fact that the Muslim characters weren't religious-maniac stereotypes, and also the way in which one subplot dealt with the history of non-white people being unfairly treated by the pyschiatric hospital system. In fact, I liked it all round. One more thing to stop me working! Hurrah!
