fat pony like thunder

one beat

Last night jane_the_23rd and I went to see Sleater-Kinney play their VERY FIRST EVER DUBLIN SHOW. And was it worth the wait? Yes it was. Mostly because Carrie Brownstein is just the coolest woman I have ever seen in my life. Seriously, she was as charismatic as PJ Harvey used to be before PJ started acting like a bad university theatre project on stage. It was amazing - she was just strutting about the stage and jumping and dancing and it could have been cheesy but she totally pulled it off. She's kind of hot, too. And her clothes are great.

I was a little disappointed that they played quite so much new stuff, though. About 70% of the gig was the new album, which is quite a lot when you're playing to an audience who've been waiting to see you since you released your first album TEN YEARS AGO. But they were great, and Carrie was so fucking cool it made up for it. And it was nice (but not at all surprising) to bump into so many Ladyfest ladies.

By the way, can anyone recommend a really good Dub compilation? The Mr Whippy Soundsystem at the Dun Laoghaire festival this weekend reminded me that it's one genre that I love but don't really own.
