sympathy, brief encounter

going postal

Postie! Where are you, Postie? You went up the other side of the road, and then never came back down our side! Does no one on our side of the road have any post today? I've got to spend today sitting at home waiting for deliveries, unable to have a shower in case I miss one, and I was hoping that you and your trusty sack would take care of lots of them. Come back, Postie! COME BACK!

Fed-Ex did bring me the new book about Georgette Heyer, though, so it's not too bad.

postie 2: electric boogaloo

Ah, Postie, your disappearance is now explained. You were making way for your superior, the magnificent Postie With a Van, who appeared at the door a few minutes ago bearing a large stack of parcels held together with elastic bands. Two of them were horrible crap books, but two were great (new Geoff Dyer! Everyone in the world should read his But Beautiful, whether they like jazz or not. It's absolutely amazing. And Out of Sheer Rage, his book about writing about D. H. Lawrence is great too). So my faith in delivery services is somewhat restored.

Also, I got an e-mail saying that my last Bpal order has been shipped (three months after I ordered it, but whatever, I expected that)! Soon I will have 10ml bottles of Wicked and Persephone (I discovered the latter thanks to majea, who kindly gave me a spare imp). Huzzah for sweet smells!
