Anyone who recalls my old diaryland journal back in the mists of time (well, three years ago) may recall me writing about 'Cute News'. My darling boyfriend and I thought it would be hilarious (if possibly slightly disturbing) if there was a whole news programme - possibly presented by a kitten - where all the news items were stuff like "and in other news, a bunny played with some candyfloss."

Anyway. It appears that Cute News actually exists! In the form of the BBC Newsround website's "Animal News" section! I particularly like the story about the (supercute) two-headed tortoise.

Does this make it legit to admit that I sometimes tune in a bit early for Neighbours and actually catch the end of Newsround, where I frequently encounter such stories? Still, it would be better with John Craven.

Hee, it's not the same without him! I very, very rarely see any of it these days, but there's still something rather sweet about the whole thing...

Aaaaargh the cuteness!

Hey, what does Patrick do, that he spends his time being forced to deal with pseudo-avant-garde art music?

This course! Our house echoes to the music of what I like to call les plinky-plonkeurs.

Mais oui, les plinky-plonkeurs, en fait!

Perhaps your boyfriend and my boyfriend should be best friends; my boy is a un peu d'un plinky-plonkeur himself, you see...

Mon Dieu! Actually, Patrick wasn't always a plinky-plonkeur - he was always in rock bands, and his degree is in English Literature. But since he started this Master's last year (it's a two year course) he has become quite the plinky-plonks afficionado. Or at least, he has to listen to it, whether he likes it or not, and I think he's developed some sort of Stockholm (Stockhausen? Heh heh) syndrome and has fallen in love with his tormentors (plinky-plonks).

It's funny, I always thought I was very open-minded about modern music (my mother has performed Philip Glass works, after all), but some of the plinky-plonks push me to the limit...

Hee! This was the story about the deer that got stuck in a car. I told some people about this a few weeks back, and nobody believed me!

I saw that one! It's insane! Especially the photo (which is very 'Cute News').

I sent the link to The Boss of Me, who is father to three Little Girls of Much Squeeing, after expressing concern for poor little Milo who got stuck in the washer, he indicated he'd be passing the link on to his girls.

Awww! That's cool..

And even more sympathetic even than the wee washer-cat is the deer in the car!
