Dec. 7th, 2004

As I sit at my desk in my pyjamas (white flannel with blue piping, pictures of dancing monkeys) writing about Mariah Carey, my life doesn't seem very glamorous. But I must confess, the knowledge that I have had entertaining conversations about Buffy with the authors of two of Salon's Best Books of 2004 makes me feel a bit more sophisticated. Or geeky. Take your pick.

You have to write about Mariah Carey? Can you write horrible stuff please? Just for me? That woman makes me scream out loud.

Heh, believe me, you really, really don't have to ask me to write horrible stuff about Mariah!

What? You're going to be mean about the talented one in the family?

Excellent! Can you send me what you write so I can say horrible stuff about her all day? She is the most vile woman on the planet, and every time I read an interview with her I realise she was actually more vile that I thought. I was really amused one day when an interview in something like Glamour was talking about how she was all changed and wanted to show everyone how wonderful she was, and this was the interview that would change your opinion of Mariah Carey, but she still came across as a complete bitch. Even more than usual in fact because she was trying to be nice and quite obviously failing miserably.

Mariah is a very strange woman. She's one of a group of pop starts I find painful to look at because they are so Jesica Rabbit like in their unrealness. Ick.

But did you discuss the best books of 2004 with Buffy?

I am so jealous of your pyjamas, you don't even KNOW.

...Well. Mine have a Grouch.

You are totally geekphisticated. Or maybe sophistigeeky. It's like a thing!

Hee! Sophistigeeky is my new favourite word.

And, I must admit, my 'jamas rule. I got them in New York a few years ago. They are covered with monkeys DANCING ON CLOUDS. I love them!

I choose sophisticated.

Also, I need pajamas. Why don't I have any cute pajamas? It seems essential.

Oh, I know. I feel the same way. I'm currently sleeping in a silky nightie that was a castoff of my grandmother's. It looks a bit sexy on, because of the way it makes my breasts look, but it looks rather old lady and is not cute.

See, I don't have any potentially sexy nightwear! Nothing but comfy jamas, which I don't think are very alluring.

Trade ya! I want cute pajamas, but can never justify the expense. It was one thing at uni, when other people did see them, but now no one sees them...

I want a money tree. I want to grow my own money, and lots of it, and share it with my friends, but not let anyone else have money trees, since if they did the money would be worth nothing.
