secret dreamworld of a shopaholic

My recent boost in employment has gone to my head. Over the last week I have purchased:

A 'Drumcondra' hoodie from Neighbourhoodies.

A bag from Queen Bee.

A '70s-rock-esque Mozart t-shirt.

The madness stops now, though. Before my credit card explodes. Actually, I took a vow of poverty a while ago (less a vow and more of an, um, reluctant decision to stop spending money I didn't have) so have not bought anything frivolous for AGES. So I am allowed go slightly deranged for once. I hope. Don't tell the bank.

Also, has anyone else been watching The Mighty Boosh on BBC2? It's so, so, so funny. Why did it get no attention when the much more laborious Green Wing (which I just don't like, despite the presence of the godlike Tamsin Grieg) gets praised to the skies? Last night's episode made Patsington and me laugh so much we were in tears. I think it was when the shaman gave Howard a picture of two kittens in a barrel ("look at them, they're having a whale of a time!") to reduce his rage that sent me over the edge.

I might have to get my little brother a "Lowdham Massiv" hoodie for his next birthday. (Lowdham being the village my parents live in, where we grew up, which Susanna Clarke significantly failed to mention despite mentioned every other village in a 2 mile radius) Only about six people would get it, but they'd all think it was hilarious, so ...

I think that's why I like the hoodies so much - they're so ridiculously parochial if they're not saying something like Brooklyn!

DAMN YOU GETTING ONE AHEAD OF ME! My friend in San Francisco has one (again with somewhere ridiculously teeny on it) and I've been meaning to get a Drumcondra one ever since I saw it.

We could wear them with our matching monkey shoes...

Hee hee, I triumph yet again! Actually, you could easily get one in a different colour - mine is asphalt (fancy name for grey, basically) with baby pink lettering. I hope they can actually fit the entire name on it...

Ha, I know! We are like those creepy families who wear uniforms in the manner of the Von Trapps. Except we have never yet worn the monkey shoes at the same time.

Ooh, that bag site is tempting. And timely since the lining of my work bag just ripped.

Their bags are fantastic - I've been using one of the truckette ones for two years, carrying it around full of stuff pretty much every day, and it's only starting to get slightly worn now (there's a tiny rip under one strap).

WANT. BAG. WANT. WANT BAG. WANT.

Actually, there is a store twenty-five steps from work that sells these bags, but they're muy expensive. When I get some money, BOY OH BOY i will be buying one. There are lots more styles on teh internets, though. I didn't realize.

I really liked The Mighty Boosh - my friends all say to each other "Think of the kitten" when someone's getting worked up... and we still sing Trapped in Cabinets too.
