Work, the Archers, and other random things

Another day, another bizarre work assignment which I shan't mention in a public post. Suffice to say it will involve me writing about wellies. Oh yes. I suppose at least my job isn't samey; today I have working on the tangentally-welly-related piece while reading a bunch of very different books for my other editor (including the new Louise Rennison - vair, vair amusing). This is probably more variety than I'd get in the average job, so I should count my blessings. As long as I'm not asked to model the wellies or anything.

And of course, working at home allows me to go away from my computer for several hours and go for walks and, of course, listen to Radio 4 - I just listened to the repeat of last night's Archers, which made me hate Tom, the Sausage King of Chicago Ambridge, even more than I already did. Whiny Adam is annoying me as well. In fact, the only person I'm enjoying these days is, of all people, Lillian, for whom I feel quite sorry now that her ghastly son has returned to the fold. Even Matt Crawford is starting to seem somewhat sympathetic; I was never sure whether he really did care for Lillian, but he certainly seems to have her best interests at heart now. Usha and her chicken costume, however, leave me unmoved. And I want more about the Emma/Will/Ed love triangle! Will the true parentage of the Tiny Grundy ever be revealed?

Okay, I've procrastinated long enough ( although my random distracting web surfing is being made slightly more difficult by the fact that my tabbed browsing seems to be on the blink. Stupid Mozilla!). Back to work.

The thing I love about the archers. but that also frustrates me is the knowledge they may well do nothing with the tiny grundy question for another 20 years.

Hee, I'm with you on both the love and the frustration. I do adore the way the Archers can work a plotline over months or even years- the Brian and Siobhan thing was a case in point. It didn't actually break for - how long was it? Over a year? And when it did become public knowledge, it was really well done - that episode in which Debbie confronted Brian was fantastic.
