premature senility

When I came back from Galway at the weekend, I had a bag (obviously), which contained, among other things, a pair of jeans, a pair of pyjamas, and a jumper.

I just realised - when looking for the jeans - that I have no idea where any of these things are. And I can't find them.

The books and toilet bag - ie the items I needed as soon as I got back? All present and correct. But the less urgent garments are nowhere to be found. As I, like, opened the bag and took things out of it last week, I would presumably have noticed if half its contents weren't there. So presumably I took the stuff home. BUT WHERE IS IT? Man, I have a long history of losing random objects around the house, but this is insane.

Have you noticed Bubbles sporting any fashionable new attire lately?

*Gasp!* He was looking a bit blue velour-ish the other day. The secret of his visits is revealed!

But from the photos you posted of him, he looks like such a nice kitty who would never do anything like that!
Going from the photos you posted of Juju however, I'd tend to suspect the Great White Feline. Particularly as you have committed the sin of allowing another cat on her territory...perhaps Juju has secreted your lost items away as an act of revenge?

Remember i put my sun hat down in your house once, and it didn't reappear for THREE YEARS! Maybe the same vortex has them.

I bought three items for Gnome yesterday, and have already lost two before they were ever used. But I have hormones and exhaustion eating my brain. What's your excuse?

Have you lost the actual bag, or just its contents?

Just contents! And not even ALL of the contents! Oh, the insanity.

Is the entire bag still somewhere?

You must have a Denis.

Denis is what we call our household spirit (who travelled with us from our last house to this; we think he likes us). He takes things, randomly, presumably because he's interested in them. Then, at some point, he puts them back, usually somewhere we've already looked several times, though rarely where they ought to be (on one memorable occasion, he moved one of my sewing boxes from the bookroom to the attic!).

Friends of ours have a Denis that not only takes things, but also brings things - stray things that aren't theirs turn up randomly in their house.

Currently, I rather think our Denis may still have my copy of "Interesting Times", which I haven't seen in about a year. On the other hand, he returned my non-holey argyle socks to my sock drawer yesterday (having kept them for 6 months!); I'm quite impressed that he actually put them back where they belong.
