Apparently Kevin Myers, that well-known misogynist and faux-Irishman (to paraphrase Krusty the Klown, I used to think he was just another self-hating Irish person, until I found out that he's actually just an English bigot) has been "let go" by the Torygraph, where he's been producing an even more obnoxious version of his ultra-obnoxious IT column. Let's see how he can blame this on feminists! Because you know he will, somehow, as despite our invisibilty in government, we are nevertheless running the country and the media. Through our magical evil Eve-like manipulative powers, I suppose. In yesterday's column, Myers said that one of the two taboos in modern Irish society was "questioning the triumphalist feminist agenda", which makes me think that he really does live in some sort of bizarre bubble (which is probably a good thing for the rest of us, imagine the horror if he were let loose on the world).

Thank God for Fintan O'Toole, who remains the only person I've ever heard actually challenging John Waters's freakish claims of feminist rule, by asking him where all these powerful feminists actually were and why weren't they doing something about access to childcare, abortion and other feminist issues.

Anyway. Apparently his sacking may halve poor little Kev's income. I seldom revel in the misfortune of others, but......bwahahahahahahahha! See, we really are all evil.

See, that's where my mind went too. "John Waters has a house in IRELAND? OMG how perfect! NOW we'll see some fun!"

But I share your schadenfreude at third-hand. Mmmmm.

Jasus, Anna, did you not get your latest copy of the triumphalist feminist agenda? It was disseminated ages ago. Is the fax machine in your uterus broken again?

Anyway, it's kind of the same as the last one, except there's an extra item where we'll parade around with Kevin Myers' head on a stick while chanting man-hating slogans. Oh, and we'll be spreading some misinformation about the value of penises.

Erm, you know? Actually, I like the sound of that particular programme of action...

It's kind of appealing, isn't it? Do you happen to have a stake handy?

Dare I suggest, by the way, that you offer your services to the IT as a columnist to counter Messrs. Myers and Waters?

I second this suggestion.

Tell me more about the sacking of the sack!? OH MY GOD.

I think perhaps there is a god, and she's pretty cool in my books right now.

The feminist agenda sure is dangerous. If there were gender equality and mutual understanding, where would he find his hateful, spiteful allies?

I am doing a little dance. Dance dance dance dance dance. I hope he ends up living in a block of flats, surrounded by all of those single mothers he loves so much.

Holy Christ. There are no words. Well, there are words, but not a single one of them is clean, and the rest are just some noises.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2005/01/02/do0206.xml

"If ever a single person was living proof that intelligence is a meaningless quality without modest common sense, it was Susan Sontag who died last week."

And, apparently, there IS a use for woman after all. Through sexing up her man's penis, she prevents him from becoming a violent criminal, mollifying him sufficiently enough to build bridges, write symphonies, and do all those wonderful things that only men know how to do:

http://opinion.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2004/01/18/do1807.xml

"There is no lesbian mirror-image of the homosexual bath-houses of New York, perverted, evil places where men performed unspeakable deeds with scores of strangers."

Oh god. He IS mild in the Times, isn't he?

Wow, the bile in that Susan Sontag column is pretty amazing--how does a person who spews so much hate live with themselves? I'm guessing there's probably a fair amount of self-medication going on in his non-writing hours. Thankfully, I'd never heard of this guy before--he sounds like a UK version of Bill O'Reilly or Michelle Malkin, only he uses a multisyllabic vocabulary.

My main problem with him is that many people consider him some kind of intellectual. His columns in the Times are not often as bad as those, but he's been known to do some pretty horrendous crap, and pass it off as intellectually-informed.

No, wait, my main problem with him is....er...his existence?

He occasionally writes interesting things about WWII (he's a big history buff). Too bad everything else he writes is horrible and harmful.
