come friendly bombs and bomb the bass

The Guardian rather sweetly reports on John Betjeman's unlikely reinvention as a dance music icon. I really want to hear those albums.

..and the music, I see, was by the man who wrote "Captain Beaky"! I MUST HEAR THEM.

I KNOW! And that album also featured the song about the cat "in plimsolls and a paper hat" who "caught the cat flu (how, don't ask it) and died while sleeping in his basket". And of course my ultimate favourite, "daddy longlegs, dancing to the beat" who danced in the light of the cinema projector showing Fred Astaire. Greatest album ever! I must go over to the 'rents (as M&J would say) and dig it out.

Oh, I want I want! Surely even better than Tony Benn's greatest hits, which is itself gold.
