robin protection watch: day 2

Ju Ju's obsession with the robins has only increased since yesterday. When let out this morning after her breakfast (her usual routine), she waddled with scary determination across the lawn and plumped herself down directly beneath the nest. Christopher Robin and Robin of Sherwood flew to the garden fence, whereupon Ju Ju barked at them (seriously, it has to be heard to be believed) and glowered impotently. The poor old robins twittered about the garden, and they and Ju Ju exchanged squeaky noises until I dragged Ju Ju back to the house. Now she's sitting at the back door, staring straight at the robins with an even more psychotic than usual look in her eye. What can I do? I can't stay in the kitchen all day to make sure Ju Ju stays away from the avian pair. Can anyone think of some sort of cat repellent that I can put near their nest?

I don't know what's come over her, I really don't. I mean, I've had her for nearly five years and she's spent much of time lying around the garden while birds frolicked around her. She's never shown any interest in, like, eating them before. Why on earth has the bloodlust suddenly kicked in now? It's a mystery.

Does Ju Ju respond to nature stuff on telly? Disco Fred goes mental for birds, horse-racing and nature programmes in general (especially ones with monkeys). He makes running lunges at the TV and twists his head quizzically from side to side. So cute - until you can't actually hear the programme you're watching above his growling.

Any update on the DJ/club thing? I'm going to dust off a few records for a hen I'm going to so I'm getting all excited.

Ju Ju sometimes gets transfixed by the telly, but it's always the oddest things - she got very into Upstairs Downstairs the other week! She has been known to get excited by some nature shows, though - especially, like the excellently named Disco Fred, monkeys! But mostly she gets mesmerised by onscreen humans in period costumes. Well, I suppose I couldn't expect her to even like the same telly as a normal animal...

No further planning on club yet, alas - there have been a few venue suggestions, though! I must send out a group e-mail again to narrow down the options. Also, my boyfriend Patsington is planning a sort of cafe-style retro club in a non-alcohol-serving venue (even though we both drink, we are both slightly fed up with the overwhelmingly alcoholic nature of Dublin nightlife), so there should be DJ-ing going on there - I and two friends are hopefully going to be the regular DJs, but might you be on for a guest spot now and then?

Upstairs Downstairs? Bizarre...
DF also likes athletics, sport, anything with movement. He event sat through 'BABE' in its entireity, glued to the telly and shaking like a leave.

Club stuff sounds good, the girlie one sounds great, but the non-booze one could be a laugh (it'll be first, me DJing sober) :)
