I knew it!

Well, no, I didn't actually know it. But like Stephen Colbert, I felt in my gut that tea is wondrous and health-giving beverage. And now it appears that it's actually healthier than water. Ha! I feel vindicated in my five-cups-a-day habit.

This was instantly forwarded to the entire McGirlie clan for information. I have never met a more tea-obsessed tribe.

How much do they consume? Being quite tea-obsessed myself, I am intrigued by those whose tea-drinking exceeds my own!

Hmm, the girlie gets through about half-a-dozen mugs a day, and the stepette and her girlfriend possibly more. The stepchen is more about making a mug of tea, drinking half and then leaving it to fester in a corner.

And Gnome who, despite her name, is a McGirlie all the way, gets through a couple of sippy cups of 1/4 tea - 3/4 milk mix a day.

A tea-drinking baby! That's hardcore! Okay, the McGirlies have beaten me in their tea devotion - if only just because of the Gnome. I didn't really start drinking tea until my late teens, believe it or not, despite my parents being tea devotees.

I do feel a little bit guilty about Gnome's tea habits, but according to your link I shouldn't, hooray! After all, running about begging for "Aymi tea! Mo' tea!" is better than Irn Bru and crisps, right?

No, what was really embarrassing was when, in the queue for the till in Real Foods, she started asking for beer.

I used to have very milky tea before I was even eating solids (I grew up in Yorkshire where tea is a sort of religion) and although it has made me an addict for life I have suffered no other ill effects.

Ah, I have a Yorkshireman for a father, so I know how these things work. And there are certainly worse addictions.

I saw this and thought of you! I'm trimmensely pleased as I do love tea and have almost replaced coffee with tea in my everyday life -- except when I need an excuse to escape the office and we nip down to the Italian coffee place down the street.

Hee! I am a standard bearer for tea appreciation.

Good news! Maybe I'll increase my tea consumption from 2 to 3 cups a day in celebration. I do love my tea.
