food glorious food

Oh God, I've been eating too much over the last few days. And never fear, I am not on some freakish diet or anything. I mean I really have been eating too much. I just scarfed down two thirds of a tub of delicious, savoury, creamy Boursin cheese squares which had been sent into the office by a PR person. I spent Sunday evening lolling in barsine's sitting room with several chums eating my own weight in cheese, cocktail sausages, crisps, dip and hummous and watching the last five episodes of Battlestar Gallactica (so, so, so good). And on Saturday night biascut and I feasted on vast amounts of delicious Szechuan food at Jade before joining leedy and her beau in the much-loved Welcome Inn which was, to our pleasant surprise, actually open (biascut and I had gone ahead as scouts to check).

So now I feel faintly sick after all that cheese and feel the need to live on light food like steamed vegetables and rice for a week. Alas, I don't like steamed vegetables (well, not on their own) and in fact I just bought (among other delicious foods) an avocado which Patsington and I shall eat later laced with lovely salty anchovies. And that's before we hit the main cours – spinach and ricotta ravioli in a creamy tomato sauce. Oh dear.

In non-gastronomic news, Ju Ju is thriving and looks ridiculously cute and funny now that her earlets have totally healed and are all fluffy; work is stressful but just about under control; I have finished knitting the back of my jumper and am about a quarter of the way through the front. Everything's pretty normal, then.

I'm going back to Jade tomorrow with me mum! Yaaaay!

Also, speaking of watering holes, what do you reckon the Centre Stage Bar will be like on a Friday night? I need to email people to see if anyone wants to come out for birthday drinks on Friday, and I'd quite like to go there (partly because it would mean I could go for drink with the lesbians after salsa, and then meet people around 9), but do you think it would be OK or horrid and rammed?

Yikes, I'd say it would be a bit rammed - but then, there are very few places that won't be rammed by that hour. I'll try and think of somewhere...

And lucky you, returning to Jade so soon! I hope you introduce her to the delights of twice cooked pork...

Oooh, I don't think I've seen Boursin cheese squares before, but I'm now very interested....

I'm glad that work is going ok. Are you doing anything extra-special for a Christmas edition?

I am addicted to Boursin, although I've never seen the cheese squares before - probably a good thing, really. I frequently fix baked potato with some boursin and lots of black pepper. (Okay, really hungry now)

I'd love to see photos of the jumper, either the working stages or when it's complete. I'm having a mad knitting phase right now and love looking at what others are working on.
