monday is wash day

It's not like I'm some sort of housework-glorifying domestic goddess or anything, but there's something very satisfying about hanging up clothes on the line on a sunny windy day. And it makes everything smell so lovely and fresh!

Sekrit message to Archers fans: OMG! The excitement! The drama! I love it when they resurrect storylines from the past! And that's why I love the Archers - they can and will bring up a story that started years before.

Hee, the drama should kick in about half way through the omnibus! Actually I just listened to yesterday's episode which was pretty exciting too.

Also, don't go to the Radio 4 Archers page or you'll get spoiled!

Oh, god, yes! And he lied and oh! I must actually listen to today's because I just can't wait for next week's omnibus!

I know! I listened to last night's for the same reason! I was out this evening but I will listen to that episode online while I'm having my breakfast tomorrow. Oooh, I love the (rare, alas) occasions when the Archers is so genuinely gripping that you just have to hear the next episode.

I've been hanging out my washing for a year now. Not only does it smell great, it's so warm here, most of my clothes dry within a few hours!

Tomorrow or Wednesday, I'm going to buy a small washer, as it will save us money over taking our clothes to the laundry.

Usually I sympathise with Jennifer but given that Adam and Debbie aren't Brian's isn't she being a little hypocritical?

But, this is the stuff we suffer through Lillian for.

Yes, when Jennifer was going on about being expected to bring up another woman's child I was surprised Brian didn't even gently bring up the fact that he'd brought up two of Jennifer's! But of course, she didn't actually have them when she was meant to be with Brian, which is the crucial thing. I was also surprised that Siobhan was so amazed that Jennifer wasn't enthusiastic about bringing up Ruaridh and that she kept saying "I need to know that she'll be a proper mother to him" - I mean, I know he's just an innocent party in all this, but really, did Siobhan really expect that Jennifer would be delighted to bring up her husband's child by the woman with whom he betrayed her - at the age of 62?

I mention the age just because Jennifer was looking forward to a comfortable retirement, with her large-ish family all grown up, and didn't show any signs of wanting to look after more tiny children.

Especially as Siobhan has dismissed her mother as a potential parent for being "too old"! Really, the whole thing is a bit contrived.

Mostly I just keep thinking, "Hi, Siobhan, why on earth do you trust Brian? You think he'd lie to Jennifer whilst sleeping with you, but he'd never lie to you?"

I know, I'm amazed she's so trusting! Although if you listen to the episodes aired this week, she becomes more sceptical (although still pretty unrealistic in her expectations).

Hee! I heard it during the week! Ever since you and everyone else told me that I should be listening, I've been trying to catch it, but failing more often than not. But I heard that one! Obviously, it would have meant more, had I been around at the time of the original events. But I liked the way that it was clear that it was part of the enormous backstory that I've never heard, but it was equally clear what had happened - so it felt rounded without me feeling excluded.

I love that with washing, too - and especially bed linen. Climbing into bed with fresh sheets is just fabulous.
