pray...for...mojo....

And the title of this post is particularly apt, because the reason I feel a bit sick and Mojo-esque is because my dinner this evening consisted of a big tub of cinema popcorn, eaten while watching a screening the Simpsons film. My verdict? Not quite as perfect as it could have been (or as it probably would have been if it had been made about 10 years ago), but still enormously, and consistently, funny. I started laughing at the 20th Century Fox trumpety thing before the credits (you'll see why) and kept going. You WILL be singing the Spider Pig song on your way out of the cinema. And do stay for the credits.

ETA: warning, spoilers for some very funny jokes in the comments! Also the overuse of the word 'film' in one paragraph.

I saw it last night too! Was laughing most of the way through. There was one bit in particular, where I couldn't stop and was silently shaking for about five minutes (gahh, would say which bit, but don't want to spoiler it for anyone reading comments).

Oh go on, what bit was it? I'll edit the post to warn about the spoilers!

OK, well, it's not really integral to the plot, but it was the moment where Homer got the van containing Marge etc to stop by putting up a 'Sop' sign (driver: "there's something odd about that sign..."). For some reason, from that moment for about five minutes I found every gag hilariously funny, especially the bit where he briefly fools a border patrol guard by wearing a hotel uniform until the guard asks why his special dispensation is written on a leaf, and when he goes into the shack to find something to help him climb the dome, and chooses the superglue ahead of the jet pack.

Ahh, brilliant. Still making me giggle this morning.

Ha, I am laughing just thinking about those bits! Especially the leaf.

I thought everything about Spiderpig was hilarious (the bit where Marge asked "why are the pig's prints on the ceiling?" and we see Homer walking the pig around upside down singing the Spiderpig song made me laugh so much I missed most of the rest of the scene) but there were so many other funny bits - the sheer number of good gags was just amazing. Did you stay for the credits? The bit with Mr Burns and Smithers was one of the funniest things in the film (I wish there had been more of both of them in the film, although their one scene in the main part of the film was hilarious - "at last, the rich white man is in power!").
