Waaaaah! In my efforts to get my episodes of Gilmore Girls to play, after an unexpected success with the first episode, I downloaded a few codecs. And now I have no sound at all! Help me!

The thing is, I did download the codec, supposedly - the Frauenhof MPEG Layer-3 one. But now I have no audio at all! Oh, the madness. I'll try DivX doctor, though - thanks!

Oh, I should probably have mentioned that I have no sound throughout my entire computer, not just in those files. God, i'm such a fool.

Sounds like you need to update the drivers for your sound card.

Probably something you installed when you were putting the codecs on clashed with your drivers.

You need to find out what kind of soundcard you have, and head to the manufacturers website, and download the drivers.

Not fun, but looks like you'll need to do it to get your sound back.

On the other hand, perhaps you unhooked a cable by accident or your speakers are switched off or something.

Hope you get it sorted!

You'd need to go to Control Panel (I assume you're on a Windows platform) and then go to the Device Manager. The Help System (see the Help menu on the Control Panel) should help you find it.

If you have a Mac, I'm buggered if I know :-/
