nooooooooooo!

One of the great things about my house is the fact that you can get Radio 4 on FM with perfect reception (not the norm in Dublin). Now I'm working at home, I have it on all day, and so I find out lots of fascinating things about racism in '30s America, whether 16 year olds should have the vote, and what's going on in Ambridge. The usual intriguing fare. So imagine my horror mere minutes ago when suddenly Radio 4 turned into some fucking mindless irish music station! What can be blocking the signal? And is it temporary? God, I hope so, because Radio 4 makes working at home worthwhile. Sigh.

I have to say, I still miss the BBC World Service, although Radio 4 doesn't do too badly in a pinch. I actually listen rarely outside the moments I've been in bed, falling asleep or waking up. Or when I "make a date" with myself, to fold laundry in the bedroom where I can listen most easily.

I'm glad to see your more recent entries report the happy news of Radio 4 retrieved, though!

A curious thing: I notice the reception gets very hairy at set times, near dusk and dawn, but also sometimes around midnight (which is full dark) nearly any time of the year. Have you run across a good explanation for why that would be so?

Crazy(ps know how I can get extra copies of that on-line journaler article? The website wants me to pay for "premium content" - *pout*)Soph
